#CFG | OPERANATION – INTO THE STARS – March 17, 2018
Arts enthusiasts and the opera-curious are invited to the 14th annual Operanation on Thursday, May 17th
Canada’s largest producer of opera, the Canadian Opera Company (COC), presents the hottest party of the spring, Operanation: Into the Stars on Thursday, May 17th, presented by TD Bank Group. Now in its 14th year, Operanation blends party and performance, making it a perfect night out for art enthusiasts and the opera-curious. This year’s theme is “Into the Stars”, which will transform Toronto’s Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts into an Ancient Roman celebration inspired by the upcoming world premiere of Rufus Wainwright’s Hadrian.
Headlining this year’s Operanation is a performance by electro-pop duo, Brave Shores, in a genre-bending collaboration with rising young opera stars of the COC Ensemble Studio. Best known for their hit song ‘Never Come Down,’ Toronto-based siblings Jay and Stefanie McCarrol have been playing music together their entire lives and recently released a new single, ‘Cult Kids’.
Before the party kicks off, Operanation features a sold-out VIP dinner, hosted by Cartier. VIP guests have full access to Operanation festivities and will begin their night with a private cocktail reception, followed by an exquisite meal and performance by members of the Ensemble Studio. This intimate experience is hosted by etalk’s Devon Soltendieck in the stunning, two-storey Henry N.R. Jackman Lounge overlooking bustling Queen Street West.
Operanation is a community-oriented initiative. 100% of proceeds go toward the COC Ensemble Studio, the nation’s premier training program for young Canadian opera artists. Ensemble Studio artists regularly enrich our cities, neighbourhoods, and towns by performing at schools, community centres, and other public spaces during their training, in addition to roles in COC mainstage productions. Attending Operanation is a meaningful way to support emerging talent and help generate positive artistic experiences with significant social and cultural benefits.
Party tickets are available now for $150 and include open bar, delectable eats, a musical performance and much more. Tickets are available online at coc.ca or by calling the COC Box Office at 416-363-8231.
